QUICK + EASY ENTERTAINING TIPS

grilled tuna with meyer lemon, olive + fennel salad

The Meyer lemon olive oil is made by O olive oil and can be found at many specialty markets or online at www.ooliveoil.com, or if you prefer, simply substitute with a good quality extra virgin olive oil.

2-3 fingerling potatoes

4 ounces tuna steak
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
Salt, to taste
Freshly ground black pepper

1/2 fennel bulb, cored and thinly sliced
1 tablespoon roughly chopped fennel fronds
1 teaspoon Meyer lemon zest
Juice from 1/2 Meyer lemon
3-4 pitted black olives
1 tablespoon Meyer lemon olive oil, plus extra for drizzling

1. Place potatoes in a pot of cold, salted water and bring to a boil. Cook until fork tender, 25-30 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside to cool.
2. Preheat grill or grill pan to medium heat. Brush tuna on each side with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place on grill and cook for about 5 minutes, or until grill marks form. Turn tuna over and finish cooking for another 1-2 minutes, or until desired doneness. Transfer to a serving plate and set aside.
3. If fingerling potatoes are large, cut in half, otherwise leave them whole and add to a bowl along with fennel slices and fronds, zest and juice from Meyer lemon and olives. Toss with Meyer lemon olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place salad over tuna steak and drizzle with additional Meyer lemon olive oil. Serve warm.

Serves 1.
