Sometimes a phrase says it all and this one is no exception. The brainchild of Seth Morrison, the chef/partner of The Gallows in the South End, this recipe was originally created for the first annual Boston Bacon and Beer Festival back in April. The event showcased local restaurants dishing out their best bacon-themed dishes and because the mix was so popular, it’s since reserved a permanent place on the restaurants menu. And much to my delight it was being offered at the Boston Food Bloggers launch party the other night.

One little bite of this mix was all it took. I was hooked. Light and fluffy and popped in bacon fat, this super smoky-flavored popcorn was the perfect base for the salty caramel, goldfish and pretzels that surrounded it. Crunchy, salty sweet goodness, all in one bite. No wonder it’s on their menu…it’s perfection. Throughout the night, I managed to enjoy a few more handfuls as I mingled with other fellow food bloggers, all gathered to celebrate the launch of the new Boston Food Bloggers website. The site, created by Rachel from Fork it over, Boston is a great resource for food and drink bloggers in Boston. So a very special thanks to Rachel, and to Christine from Urbanspoon as well as all of vendors who participated and donated items to the amazing gift bags. It was a great night all around, talking and enjoying the thing we all have in common, food.

And of course, the next time you’re in the area, stop by The Gallows for some great food, and don’t forget the bacon caramel chex mix.

I wonder how many people are going to try and make this? ME!

    • They were going to give me the recipe but decided against it because they said it’s really time-consuming to make and not really for the home cook…so…good luck! I bet you can recreate it pretty easily, although the way they make it is the BOMB! I just finished my last morsel of it and I’m very, very sad about it :(

  • stuff was addicting! such a fun party!
