QUICK + EASY ENTERTAINING TIPS

crostini with ricotta and lavender honey

If you haven’t experimented much with lavender, I invite you to give it a try. It’s a nice floral flavor that’s best when paired with something like cheese. A little goes a long way but if you looking to try it, this is a great recipe to start with. The addition of a little honey helps add an extra bit of sweetness to this simple crostini. You can find culinary lavender through online retailers such as www.penzeys.com.

2 1/2-inch thick slices French baguette, sliced on a diagonal
2 ounces whole milk ricotta cheese
1/2 teaspoon culinary lavender
2 1/2 tablespoons honey

1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Place bread slices on a baking sheet and bake until just golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Turn slices over, and bake for another 1-2 minutes. Set aside.
2. Gently bruise lavender with back of a knife and coarsely chop. Place lavender and honey in a small saucepan and warm over medium heat, about 2-3 minutes.
3. Spread each slice with equal parts ricotta cheese. Spoon honey mixture over cheese and serve immediately.

Serves 1.
