5 best healthy snacks
If you’re looking a few easy ways to add vitamins and nutrients to your diet, than try to incorporate some of these great snack ideas:

ALMONDS are packed with vitamins and nutrients such as magnesium, vitamin E, and vitamin B2 (riboflavin). Magnesium is a key mineral for our bodies and helps aid in the production of energy. It also supports the immune system, improves sleep patterns, relaxes muscles and relieves stress and anxiety. The protein and fiber found in almonds help stabilize blood sugar and slow digestion. Almonds are also high in calories so be sure to only eat a small handful at a time.

BLUEBERRIES (berries) are one of the best nutritional foods around and I love them to eat them straight from a bowl. They are low in fat, carbs and calories but high in fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

CHICKPEAS (garbanzo beans) provide an excellent source of dietary fiber, protein and folic acid. They are also a good source of minerals such as iron, copper, zinc and magnesium. As a good source of fiber, garbanzo beans can help lower cholesterol and improve blood sugar levels, making them a great food for diabetics and insulin-resistant individuals. One of my favorite ways to eat them is in a batch of homemade hummus, along with plenty of carrots for dipping.

POPCORN is high in fiber and low in fat and when made from scratch it is an all-natural food without any additives and artificial flavorings. Simply made with a little bit of salt (and pepper) is my favorite way to eat it.

AVOCADOS are rich in vitamins A, C, and E as well as potassium and are full of nutrients and antioxidants. They help promote healthy vision and protect our skin from free radicals. Eaten often, avocados help to prevent cardiovascular diseases, hypertension and some forms of cancer. The glutathione in avocado boosts your immune system, slows the aging process and encourages a healthy nervous system. My favorite quick snack is to smear half of an avocado onto a piece of good multi-grain toast and season with salt and pepper.
